I help those who are struggling with chronic gut issues, and who have already tried diet and supplements, with no results or change in their symptoms.
Those who are tired of medical professionals telling them "there's nothing wrong with them" or that "their labs look normal".
Those who want to get to the root cause of why they are feeling so terrible, even though they exercise regularly and eat very clean.
Those who want to get their health back so that they can show up for their kids & their spouse better, eat whatever they want without having to worry about the consequences, and set themselves up for longterm health and vitality.
I help people with chronic gut issues - constipation, bloating, stomach pain, food sensitivities, etc - find out the actual root cause of their pain, so that we can target the main issue and get rid of these gut issues for good.
I do this through an extensive health history, lab findings, a laser-focused detox plan, and lifestyle changes that will create long-lasting health.
I help my patients rebuild the foundation of their body (the gut) so that all of their other systems function optimally - immune system, hormones, brain, mental health, etc.
By helping my patients achieve this level of health, they are able to enjoy life more, show up for their families better, and also see significant changes in other aspects of their health - improved mental health, energy, sleep quality, decreased inflammation in the body, weight loss, skin health, hair quality, and many others.
It's truly remarkable what healing the gut will do for your overall health.
You shouldn't have to follow a strict elimination diet, or take 10-15 supplements per day, to create long-lasting gut health. There's a reason why you're feeling awful. We just need to figure out what it is, remove it, and allow the body to do what it does best - heal itself.

Dr. Kate (Kaitlin) Davis began her journey into Functional Medicine back in the fall of 2014. She had just started Chiropractic School, where she was studying Functional Neurology, when she started experiencing severe gut issues.
She had sharp stabbing pains in her abdomen, extreme fullness after eating small amounts of food, acid reflux, bloating, and severe constipation. At 24 years old and in seemingly great shape (a former D1 athlete), she was in trouble..
She immediately went to go see a GI doctor, who diagnosed her with gastroparesis ("stomach paralysis") and gave her 2 terrible options...

#1 Take a drug for the rest of her life that had a very common side effect of 'permanent facial twitches'
OR
#2 Have her intestines surgically removed and live with a colostomy bag on her abdomen for the rest of her life
Needless to say, she never went back to that doctor ever again...
Instead, she asked around at her school to see if anyone knew a good holistic doctor who could help her, and she was referred to an amazing Functional Neurologist (Dr. Marc Ellis) who had a background in massage therapy and myofascial release of the abdomen.
By the time she got in to see Dr. Ellis, she hadn't had a bowel movement in 13 days...and she was on Miralax for 11 of those 13 days.
After that first visit, where he did myofascial release in her abdomen, she went home and had 5 bowel movements that night. It was such a relief! She then researched diet heavily and landed on a grain-free, dairy-free paleo diet that helped ease most of her digestive symptoms.
She continued to see Dr. Ellis for her gut and he immediately started working on healing her brain. Dr. Davis had experienced a severe head injury (where she almost died) 5 years prior to this - and was still dealing with some neurological issues. It was during this year of treatment that she began to see the profound connection between brain health and gut health.
After just a couple of months working with him, and an extreme dietary change, Dr. Davis felt about 90% better.
Dr. Ellis became one of her mentors in chiropractic school, and she spent as much of her free time as she could studying Functional Neurology, taking over 400 hours of additional study in applied neurology on weekends and school breaks.
She went on to practice chiropractic - using brain-based therapies to get her patients out of chronic pain, help people completely heal from concussions, and fix chronic gut issues - even opening her own practice, with simply word-of-mouth referrals.
But there was something she was missing...after 8 years of good gut health, her gut issues resurfaced.
And this time, they were much worse than before...
Someone hit her head-on going through an intersection, totaling both cars, and the concussion and stress caused by this accident made her body go into a state of complete chaos - in addition to the gut issues she had before, she was also experiencing extreme energy dips throughout the day, swelling in various joints (seemingly out of nowhere), and brain fog that she hadn't had since her head injury.
She was on the verge of developing an autoimmune disease...
Thankfully, one of her friends (a Functional Medicine doctor) was in town and did some testing to see what was causing her health to decline.
Testing showed that Dr. Davis was riddled with parasites. She also had a fungal infection, mold toxicity, Leaky Gut, bacterial overgrowth in her gut, gallbladder dysfunction, and lymphatic system issues. The extreme diet she was on for nearly a decade was simply masking the root cause of all of her issues...chronic infections.
After just over a month into the detox plan she was put on, Dr. Davis passed a 3 foot long parasite in her stool...and hundreds of smaller ones kept coming out for 6 months after.
2 months in and she started to feel like a brand new person - she was having 2-3 bowel movements per day, all of her bloating was gone, she had lost a lot of weight, her energy was better than ever, and all of the swelling in her body and gut issues completely disappeared.
And best of all, for the first time in nearly a decade, she was able to eat bread and dairy with ZERO issues!
She was absolutely astounded at how such tiny little creatures could create the severe health issues she experienced, so she began spending all of her free time learning about detoxing, chronic infections, and toxins. She immediately started treating her chiropractic patients (using detoxing and lifestyle changes) and getting phenomenal results, training under Dr. Halie Elchos for a year.
She had finally discovered the missing piece of the health puzzle for a lot of her patients - chronic infections, toxins, organ dysfunction, & chronic stress.
Since then, Dr. Kate Davis has helped people heal from various different gut and neurological issues - constipation, bloating, food sensitivities, stomach pain, dizzy spells, migraines/headaches, IBS, & acid reflux.
She is a testament to the fact that healing IS possible - from concussions to severe gut issues, there's no limit to the body's capacity to heal. And it is this conviction that drives her to help as many people as she possibly can, encouraging them along the way with her own personal stories of overcoming extreme health challenges.
Dr. Kate has also used her experience as a high level athlete and her strong relationship with God, that she developed through these health challenges, to teach her patients the importance of mindset in the healing process.
Dr. Kate lives in San Diego, CA now and spends her free time snorkeling with the leopard sharks and stingrays in La Jolla, doing game nights and pool days with friends, serving at an incredible church, and being out in the sun as much as possible.
Fun facts about Dr. Kate: favorite animal is the Great White shark (is still waiting to see one of these on her ocean swims..), played 5 sports growing up, threw the Discus in college at the University of Florida (Go Gators!), favorite movie is Good Will Hunting, has traveled to 14 different countries, was born in the Netherlands, has a strong Christian faith :)
